Caregiving and Back to School
Whether you are caring for a child, a dependent, a loved one, or a pet, they all have different requirements and needs. Here are some resources to help you care for those you love!
Back To School Planning
It happens every August or September. The sun sets earlier and earlier, and soon, it’s time for the kids to go back to school. The transition from a summer schedule to a school year schedule is an adjustment. Here are some tips to help your family prepare for going back to school:
Early bedtimes. Fun-filled summer nights often result in late bedtimes. Help the kids start their school year on the right track by going to bed a little earlier each night starting a week before school begins. That way, the early wakeup call on the first day of school isn’t such a shock!
Daily prepping. Get in the habit of preparing for the school day the night before. Prepare kids’ backpacks and lunches at night. And don’t forget about charging your child’s iPad or computer if they bring one. A better suggestion? Encourage the kids to do it themselves the night before!
Set a schedule. When do you want the kids to do homework? Before or after screen time? Do they have evening activities scheduled? What time is dinner? Even though plans change, it is a good idea to have an outline of who needs to do what and when. It makes for a lot less stress during the week.
Tip: Give meal planning a try! It helps ensure that you have the food you need, and generally helps families maintain a healthy and nutritious diet.
