National Diabetes Awareness Month

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, during which communities across the country come together to raise awareness about diabetes and its impact on our lives. This year’s theme, “Take Charge of Tomorrow: Preventing Diabetes Health Problems,” emphasizes the importance of preventing diabetes-related health issues.

Diabetes is a medical condition that arises when the level of glucose (blood sugar) in your body becomes too high.  According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Diabetes affects 37M Americans, both adults and youth. It can damage vital organs like eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and may cause some cancers. Proper management is crucial.
