Heart Health Month

Benefits

February is National Heart Health Month, created to bring awareness to the importance of cardiovascular health and how you can take care of yourself. Having awareness about various heart conditions and steps you can take to prevent heart disease can help reduce the rate at which heart-related illness negatively impacts our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

What You Can do to Improve or Maintain Your Heart Health

Annual Checkups and Preventative Care

Heart health is one of the most important factors influencing your overall physical wellness. At your annual exam, you’ll have the opportunity to request a blood test to check your cholesterol levels, which affect your heart health long-term. You can also get your BMI to determine if you need to make any dietary or exercise changes.

Annual checkups are covered under our medical plans. Schedule a yearly check-up with your primary care doctor and review any health questions that might have come up since your previous annual exam. Don’t have a primary care doctor? Find one now at www.kp.org for Kaiser members and www.mycigna.com for Cigna members.
