Backup Care for Children

Care.com provides subsidized emergency backup childcare when your regular care arrangement is interrupted due to a work-related obligation.

When regular care is unavailable, you have access to in-home or in-center vetted and subsidized care. All caregivers and centers in the network are vetted and required to meet health and safety guidelines and in-depth screening criteria. Use backup care when:

• School, childcare centers, or camps are closed
• You are working from home and need someone to watch the kids or help with distance learning
• Your babysitter or nanny is sick or on vacation

Backup Care for Adults

In-home Backup Adult Care services are non-medical and may include companionship, preparing meals, light housekeeping, prompting for medication, socialization, accompanying a patient to a doctor’s appointment, and assistance with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and ambulation. Eligible individuals can use In-home Backup Adult Care for themselves, their parents, grandparents, in-laws, spouse/partner, adult children, or any adult dependent needing temporary care.

Backup Care: Annual Limits

Emergency backup care is limited to 10 days per employee per year—that is 10 days total, including all child, adult, and pet care, not 10 days for each type of care.

Care.com Premium Membership

You will receive access to Care.com at no additional charge. On Care.com, you can find, manage, and pay for a wide range of care types, including full-time nanny, tutor, part-time babysitter, pod teacher, pet sitter, adult or senior care provider, special needs caregiver, errand runner, housekeeper, tutor, and more.

Personal Network Backup Care

When your regular care is unavailable, the Personal Network allows employees to use one of their go-to caregivers or centers and get reimbursed for a portion of the cost. This is especially helpful if your school or childcare center is closed and one of your go-to caregivers is available.
